Texas Search and Rescue Annual Training

Austin, Texas –The Annual TEXSAR Team Meeting and Training Weekend took place February 3, 4, and 5 at McKinney Roughs Nature Park in Bastrop, Texas.

More than 75 TEXSAR Team Members from across the state convened at the park for a full weekend of classroom training, field training, food, and fellowship. Training topics such as K9 Searches and Support, Technology in Search and Rescue, Tracking, and Wilderness First Aid were just a few of the courses conducted over the weekend.

The team meeting allowed members the opportunity to receive updates on TEXSAR policies and missions, and give feedback.

A simulation of a severe weather event wrapped up the training on Sunday. Member “victims” with major and minor injuries stationed themselves throughout the area. Search and Rescue teams sought out and managed the victims and the situation. Following the exercise, a debriefing addressed all the issues that presented themselves.

Thank you to amazing TEXSAR instructors who gave their time and expertise to make TEXSAR members better prepared.
