Austin, Texas – March 30, 2018: TEXSAR would like to recognize and thank H-E-B for its generous donation of $100,000 from the company’s Hurricane Harvey Tear Pad Campaign. This donation is the largest in TEXSAR history and enables TEXSAR to continue providing search and rescue and disaster relief services to our communities in their greatest time of need.

“TEXSAR relies on all of our donors to be able to maintain our current services,” said TEXSAR CEO Justen Noakes. “H-E-B and TEXSAR both work tirelessly to support local communities throughout Texas and we are so grateful for our ongoing relationship.”

Last year TEXSAR deployed for 17 days during Hurricane Harvey. TEXSAR members deployed throughout the entire coast of Texas. TEXSAR received over 10 agency requests and operated in 15 different locations. Over ninety members deployed while dozens supported from home.

During Harvey TEXSAR accomplished the following:

  • Rescued and evacuated over 700 people and pets
  • Assisted in sheltering 400 people
  • Delivered 7,500 MRE’s
  • Provided disaster relief aid to 21,000 families

TEXSAR volunteers accumulated almost 11,000 hours during Harvey, equating to over $260,000 worth of services provided to Texas jurisdictions for free.

Texas Search and Rescue has been a significant leader in disaster response and recovery in the great state of Texas for more than a decade. With over 300 unpaid professionals, TEXSAR serves all citizens of Texas and deploys at the request of local and state law enforcement, fire service and emergency management agencies, the Office of the Governor, and relief organizations. There is never a charge to the requesting agency for TEXSAR’s services.

TEXSAR is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. To make a donation go to https://igivehere.org/TEXSAR.
