TEXSAR Hosts Local Blood Drive
TEXSAR (Texas Search and Rescue) teamed up with We Are Blood to host a public Blood Drive. During these unprecedented times TEXSAR aims to support the community in all the ways that we see fit. Blood donation numbers have dropped drastically since safety measures for COVID-19 have ramped up. Last week Pete Gaynor of FEMA stated: “Just as the social distancing guidance recommends that it’s okay for people to leave home for necessities like groceries, or a doctor’s visit, or the pharmacy—donating blood is a necessity.” His call to action inspired TEXSAR to reach out to local non-profit and Central Texas blood bank, We Are Blood to see how we could help. Because of the outpouring support we are looking to book another date in the next week. We Are Blood is taking all the necessary precautions to ensure blood donors are safe.
