TEXSAR’s 15th Birthday

TEXSAR got it’s start in 2004 when several incredible individuals came together to start a volunteer Search and Rescue team. They saw the need for local support and felt called to be a part of that. With careers stretching to all ends of the spectrum these individuals created a dynamic team. The team evolved over time and eventually in 2011 officially became TEXSAR.

In the last 15 years TEXSAR has evolved into one of the largest volunteer Search and Rescue teams in the State of Texas. With 367 members to date and growing, TEXSAR stretches to divisions in the Gulf Coast, Coastal Bend, North Texas, Central Texas, and dozens of members At-Large across the state. We are proud of our members and the dedication they hold to growing this organization. Because of these members, TEXSAR is equipped in areas such as; ground search and rescue; flood and swiftwater rescue; K9 search, rescue, and recovery; disaster relief services; wildland fire; aerial search; UAV support; and dive team operations. TEXSAR is fully self-sufficient, including incident management team (IMT) capabilities, logistics and communications.

On this day 15 years ago the individuals that sat down to make this team happen could never have imagined what their passion and their dreams would become.

TEXSAR is proud of their history, thankful for the founding members, and excited for the future.

Happy Birthday TEXSAR!
